Linda Fears is Vice President/Editor-in-Chief of Family Circle, one of the country’s largest circulation monthly magazines (4 million circulation and 16 million readers). The magazine provides smart, relevant advice, sensible solutions, ideas and inspiration for the parents of tweens and teens in a voice that encourages and celebrates success. Under her guidance the magazine was nominated for a 2009 ASME (American Society of Magazine Editors) award in the Personal Service category, was included in Adage’s 2009 A-List and was also selected as one of Adweek’s top ten magazines in 2010 for the third year in a row. Fears also is the Group Editor for Martha Stewart Living and Martha Stewart Weddings, overseeing editorial content for each brand which combined, reach a total of 100 million consumers each month. Fears is also the Editorial Director of Allrecipes magazine and is the director of Meredith Corporation’s Food Center of Excellence.
Prior to joining Meredith, Fears served as Editor-in-Chief, New Business Development for G+J USA where she was responsible for overseeing the development of new products and magazine concepts for the women’s marketplace. She joined G+J USA in 1999 as Articles Editor for Parents magazine; in 2000 she became Deputy Editor of Parents and was responsible for managing the 2.2-million circulation title’s broad range of editorial coverage on child development.
In 2004, Fears served as Editor-in-Chief of YM magazine where she was the driving force behind the magazine’s highly successful re-launch and repositioning as the authoritative source of information, advice, and entertainment for teenage girls. She started her publishing career at Meredith, working for 11 years at Ladies’ Home Journal, eventually becoming Senior Editor and Lifestyle Director.
A graduate of Cornell University, Fears, a mother of three, resides in Chappaqua, N.Y.
